Belated Day 9: Indian paradise flycatcher ! @birbfest.challenge Day 8: Andean Cock of the Rock My first multicolor block! Did I try to print this freehand without a registration board? Yes. Did it come out misaligned initially? Obviously. Did I then also have to pop out to Michael’s to get another 2” brayer because I had three brayers but 4 colors? Also yes. Do I probably actually need a bunch of 1” brayers if I’m working this small? Also yes. Anyways, I made some notes for fixing up the blocks a little further, and hope to have a pretty, clean print tomorrow! What an exciting new process!! @birbfest.challenge New digital plans for more printmaking! Now that I have new colored inks, I plan to experiment more with jigsaw, multi block, and reduction prints! Though I am excited about a larger piece, I think I should start with smaller, simpler prints to try these new techniques. I’ve taken my more complex king eider linocut design (in progress) and have simplified it to try out a jigsaw or multi block print a little smaller!! Can’t wait to start carving ✨ Just a little texture-appreciation post for the Razorbill collage from Day 3 of #birbfest2026 while I continue working on the others. I used handmade paper from this past summer in addition to one of my favorite tree-free papers from @artwayltd and my brayer-cleaning/inkpad scraps from previous linocut works! I added some extra details with colored pencil. Birbfest is always a great excuse to play a little bit more with the media I work in and I’m always so inspired by others creative work as well. Finally breaking out the new relief print inks I got for Christmas and printing my new logo! I love working with Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash inks and am excited to explore some multicolored Lino prints ✨
